We have been given the opportunity to test and review the official McLaren F1 steering wheel, which is made for real speed champions. We won’t say no to that! The official McLaren F1 steering wheel is not available separately, but upon purchasing the Lego McLaren F1 car, it can be yours for a price tag of €26.99.

Packaging, Contents & Mounting

We received the official McLaren F1 steering wheel from a local store, specialized in the sale of gaming and play items. After paying, we were able to take it home with us immediately. In the box, we find a lot of parts and a manual. Very neatly organized! With a simple click, we push the steering wheel into place and we’re ready to go. Piece of cake!

The Steering Wheel

As mentioned, it concerns the official McLaren F1 steering wheel. It has a sleek design and nice grips, although they are a bit on the small side. The steering wheel features a static holographic display that shows telemetry data and settings. Furthermore, the steering wheel is equipped with a number of special buttons:

• Orange button
  The orange button activates Papaya Power. This button provides an extra speed boost for overtaking. Handy!
• Blue button
  Force a blue flag for all cars driving around you.
• Red button
  The red button is the ‘Drink’ button, so you can have the drink while driving!
• Yellow button
  With the yellow button, you can leave a banana peel strategically placed on the circuit.
• Black button
  The black button activates Karaoke Party Mode. It’s friday then, it’s saturday sunday what?
• Satin button
  The satin button transforms your car’s setup into a softer driving experience, offering a truly smooth operation of your car.

With all these fantastic buttons and features, this is one of the most comprehensive steering wheels we’ve had the pleasure to test.

Conclusion

We have extensively tested the official McLaren F1 steering wheel, and we can’t help but say that it’s a truly high-quality steering wheel that reeks with passion. However, it’s only suitable for sim racers with smaller hands. A must-have addition to the sim racing setup of any avid racing enthusiast!
